Guiding Mount Dora Christian Academy and Children’s Home in Florida as the vice president of development, Dr. Anthony (Tony) Kinkel informs everything from academics to community outreach. He directs Office of Development members in maximizing fundraising opportunities while overseeing capital projects and the academy's annual fund. Anthony Kinkel's fundraising in the first half of 2024 broke the school record.

Beginning his career as a social studies teacher in Sandstone, Minnesota, Mr. Kinkel also served as the assistant boys' basketball coach. He earned his Ed.D. in higher education administration from the University of Minnesota and wrote his dissertation on effectiveness indicators in higher education governing boards.

Mr. Kinkel left his teaching position when he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives. As a state legislator, he chaired the Higher Education Finance Division and oversaw 59 public colleges and universities. He authored and helped ensure the passage of the bipartisan Higher Education Reform Act of 1995, which tied the state’s higher education system to stakeholder results. Mr. Kinkel was also active in the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources and helped ensure fiscal responsibility in the Environmental Trust Fund.

Dr. Tony Kinkel
